Dear KSEA members,

Happy New Year and wish a very prosperous 2017!

We are recruiting students who want to participate in the 2^nd Youth Science and Technology Leadership Camp(YSTLC).  This Camp will be held from August 6 through 12, 2017 in Washington DC area.  Current target for the Camp participants will be approximately 20 students.   Please see the video clip for YSTLC2016 (), attached YSTLC2016 program/materials in this email and contact KSEA HQ at sejong@ksea.org to ask specific questions.

The announcement for the 2^nd YSTLC will go public in mid-February 2017.   However, prior to the public announcement, KSEA members have the opportunity of priority RSVP for the YSTLC.  We would like to limit the camp participants to near 20 students and students will be accepted after approval of student’s admission essay.  The priority RSVP will allow you to secure your child’s place in the camp. We highly encourage you to use your membership benefit and secure your child’s place in the YSTL Camp.

YSTLC2017 will basically follow the program that we have tested in YSTLC2016 and these are mainly composed of:  (i) extensive coaching on exploring STEM in the real field setting visiting various laboratories, (ii) experience detailed mentoring senior and junior experts in STEM fields, (iii) learn to interpret professional conference programs, and lectures, (iv) gain knowledge on future trends in STEM, (v) understand the importance of networking,  and (vi) meeting Nobel Prize winners to acquire passion for STEM.

The preliminary program for YSTLC2017 will be available upon request.

• Target # students for YSTLC2017:  20 Students
• Grades:  8^th – 12^th Junior high and high school students

• Tuition*:  Public/non-KSEA members:  $3000

Family of KSEA members:  $2800

Family of current and past KSEA Chapter/Branch presidents, Directors of HQ, TG Councilors:  $2500

*Tuition covers lodging at Hyatt Regency Crystal City, DC, meals, camp programs, tour, etc.

• Priority RSVP Deadline: Feb15, 2017.   Non-refundable $300 deposit must be paid the deadline to receive discounts.  Starting from Feb16, 2017, the tuition will be $3000

We hope that KSEA members take advantage of this early RSVP and discounts.  We expect to have another successful YSTLC/UKC this summer of 2017.

2017년에도 KSEA 회원 모든 분들께서 건승하시기를 기원합니다.

KSEA 는 지난 해 8월 텍사스주 달라스에서 개최된 UKC2016 에서 시행된 제1회 청소년과학기술리더쉽 캠프(YSTLC2016) 의 성공에 힘입어 오는 8월 워싱턴 DC 에서 개최되는 UKC 2017 기간 동안 제2회 YSTLC 캠프를 시행하고자 합니다. 8월 6일(일)-12일(토)까지 6박7일의 일정으로 개최될 YSTLC2017 은 최고의 석학들과멘토들을 초청하여 지난 해 보다 더욱 알차고 강화된 프로그램으로 과학기술 꿈나무 양성을 위한 Premier Summer Camp 로 자리매김할 계획입니다.  참고로 지난 해 YSTLC2016 영상() 과첨부된 프로그램 내용을 검토하시고 문의가 있으시면 KSEA 사무국(sejong@ksea.org)으로 연락하시기 바랍니다.

제 2회 YSTLC 모집 정원은 20명 가량으로 계획하고 있으며 프로그램 공고는 2월 중 지역사회에 배포될 예정이나, 프로그램 공고 이전에 먼저 KSEA 회원들의 자녀에게 사전등록과 등록비 할인의 특혜를 드리고자 하오니많은 회원분들께서 여름 방학 기간을 이용한 자녀교육의 기회로 삼으실수 있기를 바랍니다.

YSTLC 2017 의 프로그램의 기본적인 틀은 지난 해와 마찬가지로 1)노벨상 수상자와의 만남을 통한 과학기술자로서의 비젼과 열정 확보 2)첨단과학기술시설, 대학 방문과 현직 과학기술자들과의 교류 3)NASA 제공 과학실험 프로젝트 참여 4)선배과학기술전공자들과의 멘토쉽을 통해 희망 전공 및 직업에 대한 인식 확립 5) 실제학술대회 프로그램에 참여함으로 이론적 지식과 네트워킹의 중요성을 동시에 습득 등으로  구성됩니다.
