KSEA took a major role at the "NODES Forum 2016: Engaging Science and Engineering Diasporas in Policy” held during the AAAS (American Association for the Advancement of Science)  annual meeting in Omni Shoreham Hotel, Washington DC on Feb 11, 2016.

The AAAS Annual Meeting is the largest and most widely recognized global science gathering with exciting scientific sessions, renowned speakers, and valuable networking opportunities

As KSEA representatives, Vice President Dr. Eun-Suk Seo, Headquarters Operation Director  Dr. Steve An and Dr. Chan-mo Park, the 13th KSEA President and many WA Metro chapter members attended the event. The day before the forum, KOFAC chairman Dr. Seung-Hwan Kim and executives visited KSEA HQ and were greeted Dr. Chan-mo Park, Dr. Steve An and HQ staff. They showed a lot of interests in the historical contribution of KSEA toward the industrial development of Korea and future collaborations which will be mutually beneficial for both parties.



About 130 scientists and engineers, innovators, and government/embassy officials from many countries attended the NODES Diasporas Forum, and Vice President Dr. Seo gave an inspirational speech during the session of "The Supply Side for Engagement of S&T Diasporas in Policy".  Dr. Seo presented about the past, present and future roles of KSEA as the liaison between US and Korea. Dr. Seo introduced almost 50 years of KSEA history, and major project such as UKC, SEED, YGTLC, NMSC, and many more. Dr. Seo emphasized KSEA’s contributions on the “Miracle on the Han River”   supporting to establish many science institutions including KAIST, POSTCH, KIST and IBS and invited all attendees to UKC event. Dr. Seo concluded her speech saying now is the time to broaden KSEA networks to other ethnic groups to build up “Technical Alliance”

Needless to say, the audience was very much impressed the critical role of KSEA as a successful case of Diasporas and showed great interests in potential collaboration with KSEA. The forum was followed the KSEA-KOFAC reception led Dr. Chan-mo Park as the representative of KSEA.
